Debra Druzy by KMPNY-1

With my terrible penmanship, writing a novel was never my lifelong dream. However, as a little girl I loved playing with my mother’s old typewriter, and I did pretty good in typing class in high school. So when I grew up, I got a job in NYC where I did a lot of typing. And I spent a lot of hours commuting via the Long Island Railroad. To pass the time, I read a lot of books. All sorts of books. Syfy. Horror. Women’s Fiction.

But I quickly realized Romance was my favorite. The steamier the better!!

All that reading gave me the big idea to write my own story, putting my overactive imagination and suspicious mind to work, playing out the possibilities of what-ifs. I came home from work one day, sat in front a blank document on my computer, and attempted to write my first novel. It was awful but that didn’t stop me.

I spent a decade hobby-writing, researching how to write, and studying the Romance genre.

In 2011, I joined the Romance Writers of America and the local chapter of Long Island Romance Writers, where I met like-minded writers at all levels of experience. At the LIRW Annual Luncheon in May 2014, I pitched my story to the Editor-in-Chief of The Wild Rose Press and she invited me to send the first three chapters of my completed manuscript. After that, the Senior Editor of the Champagne Line requested the whole thing. By August, I was offered a contract for SLEEPING WITH SANTA and it was released in time for Christmas 2014!

In between family-life and everything else, I’m busy on my next work in progress, which you can find under the IN THE WORKS tab of this site. Meanwhile, please KEEP IN TOUCH join my MAILING LIST, find me on FACEBOOKTWITTER, and a bunch of other places on the internet. Check out my BLOG and some PICS of my pup. And if you’ve enjoyed reading SLEEPING WITH SANTA, please leave a review on GOODREADS and AMAZONor wherever you purchased the book.

Thank you for reading.
I appreciate your support.
Have a happily-ever-after.

  1. Wonderful post and write up. Thank you liking and subscribing to my blogs. You were the 1200th to do so. I thought I would share this information with you. A little milestone to boost my ego in the 4 months I have been blogging.

  2. A very interesting biography i’ve read throughout the day. With writing; with time, It all just happened so smoothly. fast & surprisingly in your life. In 1999, since you just allowed your very delicate fingers dancing ‘pon keyboard, you ain’t even know in 2014, right 14-15 years later, you’d have everything into the palm of your hands what you just wished to have for! To be honest, Your insightful biography’s seemed like a synopsis of book! Interesting!

All genres’re appreciable, but it’s true or, may be, the fact, that “romance-genre” is always valued high along the glance of the rest of the ones. It makes writers getting bled real hard in words; to an every barren folio of snowy-sheet left craved to get written with the strong sensuality & true pleasure of heart in words. I even write stuffs across many genres, but I always prefer writing across romance & erotica first before getting back to any other genre. So, it’s kinda worth-doing thing as a writer, after all, it’s all for what a writer’s made for: “To Write!”

    Much congratulations to you Debra!
I’d be looking forward to reading your novels!
